Winter to the extreme!

By Asst. Chief Gino Furano
December 15, 2016

For the next couple of days, we will be experiencing an arctic blast. A bitter cold front is expected late tonight and will remain until Saturday morning.
Cold Weather Safety Tips:
-Use layers of clothing to stay warm. Gloves and a hat are especially important.
-Bring pets indoors. If they can’t come inside, make sure they have enough shelter to keep them warm.
-Protect your pipes. Wrap any outdoor pipes to insulate them.
-Use extreme caution with space heaters. Make sure they’re on a level, hard surface and keep them at least three feet away from paper, clothing, bedding, curtains or rugs.
-In older homes, take care to prevent pipes from freezing. Open the kitchen and bathroom cabinet doors to allow warmer air to circulate around the plumbing.
-Never operate a generator inside the home, including in the basement or garage.
-Check on elderly friends and relatives as they are more susceptible to the cold.
